21 October 2026, Startup Village, Menzah, Tunis
The Tunisian British Chamber of Commerce (TBCC), in partnership with Startup Village, hosted an evening dedicated to the draft Finance Law 2027, under the theme “Shaping the Economic Agenda with TBCC”.
Every year, the Finance Law sets the fiscal and budgetary framework within which companies operate. For entrepreneurs and business leaders, understanding it early is essential to anticipate costs, plan investments and adapt their strategies.
The event brought together 21 participants from the business community to understand what the draft law means for their sectors and to discuss it directly with the lawmaker leading the debate.
A guest of honor at the heart of the Finance Law:
The evening was honored by the presence of Maher Kétari, President of the Finance Committee and Member of the Tunisian National Assembly. The Finance Committee is the body that examines the draft law in detail before it is put to a vote, which made Mr. Kétari a key voice for the private sector to hear from.
The conversation was held in an open, informal format at Startup Village. Rather than a formal speech, participants had the opportunity to exchange directly with the head of the committee, ask questions and share the concerns of their sectors.
A diverse audience, with start-ups front and center:
Participants came from many sectors, including hospitality, distribution, accounting and advisory, the automotive industry and innovation ecosystems. Entrepreneurs, independent professionals and students also joined the discussion, which made for a rich mix of perspectives around the same table.
The presence of young start-up founders stood out during the evening. Mr. Kétari warmly appreciated seeing a new generation of entrepreneurs take an active interest in the economic and legislative agenda, and engage directly with those who shape it.
Insights from the field:
The session also gave the floor to professionals from different sectors, who shared how the draft law affects their activities:
Ahmed Ouesleti – Bako Motors
Mr. Ouesleti brought the perspective of the automotive sector, presenting the updates that concern car-related activities and what they mean for professionals in the field.
Achref Ellouzi – Hello Brico
Representing the start-up community, Mr. Ellouzi shared an entrepreneur’s point of view on how the measures affect young and growing companies.
Cyrine Hafaiedh – General Manager, ARS Tunisie
Ms. Hafaiedh addressed the movement of money, looking at the financial flows concerned by the draft law and what companies should keep in mind.
Oussema Azouzi – PFI
Mr. Azouzi focused on support for start-ups, outlining the mechanisms available to help young companies launch, grow and secure funding.
Together, these contributions gave participants a practical, sector-by-sector reading of the draft law, from the car industry to financial flows and start-up support.
Thanks to our main sponsors
TBCC warmly thanks its main sponsors, Hello Brico and ARS Tunisie (Assurance Reassurance Solutions), whose support made this event possible. TBCC also thanks Startup Village for hosting the evening and providing a welcoming setting for the exchange between entrepreneurs and decision-makers.
Bridging business and decision-makers
This evening reflects TBCC’s ongoing mission to create spaces where the private sector, start-ups and public decision-makers can talk openly about the economic agenda.
By bringing the head of the Finance Committee directly to entrepreneurs, TBCC helped make a complex piece of legislation more accessible, and gave its members and guests the chance to be heard before the law takes its final shape.
